Stephen Shupe (MiamiMovieCritic) is a Web writer, film critic and aspiring screenwriter living in Miami. He grew up in South Central… Kansas, that is, where he had a fondness for karate and Bruce Lee movies. This grew into a lifelong love of film - Tarantino movies, French New Wave directors like Godard and Truffaut, Asian cinema.
He directed a handful of short films in college, winning a screenwriting award for the horror movie The Realm. Unsatisfied with his college experience in Miami, he moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where he pursued a master’s degree in journalism and quickly fell in love with university life. He spent most of his college and post-college years splicing movies together in projection booths, occasionally stealing nudie frames for his own amusement. (Best theft ever: Rosario Dawson in Alexander.) Recently, he’s gotten into the video-sharing business, and is currently at work on two film and play projects. |
Alan Melikdjanian (Amelik) is a South Florida-based film director, editor and a digital artist. His work spans from producing visual effects on music videos, feature films and TV programs on networks such as Discovery Channel, to developing his own original film projects. Alan was born in Riga, Latvia, but became an American citizen at a young age. After graduating from MIU, Alan directed a feature-length comedy Citizen Mavzik which featured an international cast and aired on the RTVI cable network.
More recently, Alan has been making a name for himself as the star of the progressively popular skeptic-themed comedy web series Captain Disillusion, receiving accolades from science writer Phil Plait and the James Randi Educational Foundation. Alan’s increasing involvement in the world of web video has led him to start up a new company and embark on the development of a unique video community website FilmNet.co along with his fellow Splice contributors. He is Creative Director at FilmNet. |
Enrique Huertas (enrihrts) is a production manager and video artist currently living in Miami. He grew up in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, where he became a huge fan of everything that has to do with music, movies and pop culture. After moving to Miami and graduating from Miami International University of Art & Design with a BFA degree in film production, he spent the next 7 years working on various film and reality TV sets, including Project Runway and Top Chef on Bravo Network.
At the same time, he was also becoming a part of the growing video art and VJ movement and is currently self-producing a Video Art DVD. Now Enrique has joined the Splice project. In addition to pictures on this blog Enrique can be seen as a bad-ass bodyguard getting blown away in the movie I, Witness. |
